| Dawn Equipment Company is a family owned manufacturer of Agricultural Equipment located in Sycamore, Illinois. People often wonder what makes us tick, because in many ways we are an unconventional organization. It is very difficult in the modern economic climate to build high quality, American made, and innovative products at a reasonable price. We have found a business model that allows us to do just that. It requires very hard work. It also requires looking for waste throughout the entire organization. We pursue increasing levels of automation and build to order on several products in our line. We use advanced computer modeling and analysis software. Most of all everyone must pull their own weight. While many companies are quite top heavy, a high percentage of their payroll being paid to white collar people, Dawn is just the opposite. We have our resources oriented around design and manufacturing with fabrication personnel being our greatest expenditure. We work hard to make desireable products that sell themselves rather than making products that cost the right amount and then hiring a bunch of sales and marketing people to convince farmers that they need them. We need to be lean to survive and we can only do this by helping to make farmers be more lean too. All of the equipment we make needs to be efficient. What I mean is that we will not sell you equipment that does not make you money. We will not sell equipment that costs more to pull across the field than is possible to get back out in yield increase. Dawn believes that a proper farm strategy should be good both for the environment and farm income.We must respond to a changing world faster than our competitors, use more advanced technology, and most of all never forget who got us here: the customers. Together we can farm better. |
