Trashwheels® for John Deere ME Plus, XP, & Pro Row Unit (1700 Series & DB)

The standard Plus, XP and Pro mount: 1140-2, has an angled support arm that places the depth-adjust tube 2.25" out from the faceplate of the planter row unit. There are some important exceptions to this. If you have a John Deere planter that has been equipped with John Deere "Heavy-Duty" Scrapers, you will have to use the mount 1140-2-3.25. This gives another inch of clearance to avoid interference with the scraper mount. If you have ANY row units with "Long Parallel Links" You must use the 1140-2-6.25 mount. Long parallel links come standard on the front four center rows of the JD 1790 split-row. Many other DB & 1700 series are equipped with long parallel links, please verify your links package. Dawn will not be liable for any freight or extra cost associated with returns.
NOTE: The 1140-2 mount is compatible with the JD 7200, JD 1700 Series, and the JD Bauer Planters. The 1140-2-3.25 is only compatible with 1700 series and DB bars equipped with heavy duty scrapers. The 1140-2-6.25 is only compatible with 1700 series and DB bars with long parallel links.

This is the orginal Dawn Trashwheel. For use in min-till & no-till programs. This stem assembly is for use with the 1140-2 mounts for the JD 1700 series & DB Planters. The 14" wheel will ALWAYS engage the ground on a 1770NT, 1780, or 1790. Also, 14" will interfere with the transport tires on these planters. If you have a conventional till program, it is best to order the 1130A-12.75 so that the wheels can be lifted out of the gound entirely.
1130A - 14 (Intersecting)
This is the Trashwheel II, "swept-back" tooth, row cleaner. The Trashwheel II is recommended for producers running in conventionally tilled ground. It also works very well in no-till ground, particularly in wheat stubble. The "swept-back" profile allows the Trashwheel II to slough off residue, which might otherwise "wrap-up" a straight toothed Trashwheel. Due to clearance issues on the JD: 1770NT, 1780, 1790, and White 8000 Planters, use the 12.75" wheels to avoid interference, and the inability to raise the 14" entirely out of the ground.
NOTE:
On 22"+ row spacing, and in conventionally tilled ground the Trashwheel II should only be run in the offset position! If you are running NO-TILL on 15-20in rows, and wish to run your trashwheels intersecting , please see below for information on the 1138F narrow angle stem assembly.
If you are planting into narrow rows at 20" or less, two trashwheels are usually not an option. There is very little room for residue to flow on such narrow spacing. The 1136A has an adapter which positions the single Trashwheel in-line with the seed trench. We recommend you use the 1136A on all 20" or less spacing, particularly if you have high levels of residue.
The 1138F Narrow Angle Trashwheels Assembly allows No-Tillers planting on 20" and 22" inch centers to run intersecting trashwheels into various types of residue. If you are primarily no-tilling on narrow rows, into wheat stubble, this is the wheel for you. This wheel is NOT designed to run in worked ground. It is available in 14" and 12.75" , but there are restrictions on the 14" wheel on some planters.
In recent years floating row cleaners have become a very popular tool for producers who have had difficulty following tough ground contours. Dawn only recommends using the 4010 series floating Trashwheels in a very select set of field conditions. We typically only recommend our floating trashwheels to No-tillers who are running into tough arid ground, or regions with large numbers of terraced fields, although there are exceptions. In almost all cases we do NOT recommend using the 4010 series floating Trashwheels without depth bands. Especially if you will be using these wheels in conventionally tilled ground, the depth bands are a crucial component. Please make sure to note other optional or additional equipment. There are different mounting brackets for row units with JD "Heavy Duty" scrapers & for "Long Parallel Link" packages.
