| The model 3004 continues the evolution of the integral fertilizer
opener and row cleaner combination setting new performance standards
along the way. |
|

|
Compact design allows for simple fit on many new planters.
Supported Planters are:
JD 1770NT and most planters in the 1700 series line other
than the 1790. The 1760 is fine. Many 1780's may be problematic due to transport wheel design. Neither the split row 1790 nor the 24R/20 will be
supported. However, this unit is plug and play on the 1770NT, which is a preferred application.
The DB60 36/20 will not be supported. In fact, none of the DB planters can be used because of the design of the wing wheel modules, among other things. This is really unfortunate.
Kinze 3700 is a preferred application. The 3700 36/20 can be used. The 3650 is now workable due to a change in the axle weldment. The interference of the center 4 rows with the transport wheel support persists on the 3600 if trying to mount on the front bar. Usually this can be worked around. Mounting on the rear frame is straight forward. Many other units in the Kinze line will work.

Fertilizer = Dry or Liquid
Placement = 2,3,4 inches off the centerline will result
in good row cleaning performance.
Depth = 2 - 5.5 inches deep
Row Spacing = 20-30 inches

| These three pictures
are from a customer here in Illinois that is using the model 3004 in a very flexible way. This customer used the 3004 on a Case 1200 planter to put down starter then moved the same units to a cultivator toolbar and used them to sidedress. On the planter the fertilizer was being delivered approximately 3 in deep. In the photo at left, the wear pattern on the blade tells us that he is sidedressing at about 5 inches deep. I would guess these units were pulled
over about five thousand acres in just a couple of weeks. This unit can handle running deep in sidedress applications. Typically, a customer will buy two sets of mounting brackets in this situation.
In the bottom picture you can see the minimal soil disturbance created by the 3004. More Images of Dawn Fertilzer Openers

| Row cleaner geometry has been improved to maximize performance on 20 inch rows. The TrashWheel will still clear a 7 inch path (typical) on 30 or 20 in rows. |

| The view from behind. If you are in the NW cornbelt and one-pass planting is what you want, then the 3004 is the right unit for you. |

|
| |
 |
| Not only is the 3004 an ultra compact unit, it also features excellent blade travel. The blade will clear the soil surface by 2 inches at any fertilizer depth. |

 |
| Newly arrived is the 3004-TBM-01 Mounting bracket kit. It is rigid affordable and moves the unit an inch forward. It is also much easier and faster to install. There are instances where this mounting bracket cannot be used. The Kinze 3700 unfortunately is one of those. |
|
| |
 |
| The universal mounting bracket can be used in most applications and is a solution for some tricky fit ups on some 1790's and 3700's. Again, we do not have a standard mounting system for the 1790 line. However, a savvy farmer can get it done with a bit of wrench work. The reason the 1790 24/20 is so hard to deal with is that Deere used a 3 x 7 frame tube instead of the conventional 7 x7 size. The model 3004- along with many other attachments by necessity uses that 4 inches of space that were taken away. |

 |
| For modern Case Planters the model 3004 can also be used. You cannot have a driveshaft under the frame tube in most cases. For Case 1200 planters order mounting bracket 3004-TBM-03. Of note: Case offers an auxillary frame tube for the 1200 which allows using the 3004 without a TrashWheel and having the row cleaning fixed to the row unit. Your dealer may not know about this. |
